About Perth Turf Quotes

This site started from an argument about one sentence. Somebody wanted to write "check with your council about watering days in Perth", because that is what turf websites in other cities write. In Perth it is wrong. Councils do not set watering days here; the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation makes the rules by regulation and Water Corporation enforces them, and your days come from the last digit of your street number. One plausible sentence, copied from a city 3,000km away, and it would have sent readers to the wrong organisation.

That is the whole editorial position of this site, and it is why our About page is about method rather than about us.

We publish the primary document, not a summary of a summary

Perth is unusually well served for this. Every one of the six local governments covering our suburbs has a written, published position on artificial turf on the verge, and every one of them uses the words "artificial" or "synthetic" explicitly. That almost never happens. So rather than telling you "rules vary by council", we opened all six documents, quoted the operative clause, and named the version and adoption date. You can read the City of Gosnells permitting "Artificial lawn" by name and the City of Canning refusing "Artificial turf / synthetic grass" by name, side by side, with links to both sources, in our council-by-council verge guide. Two adjoining councils, opposite answers. A page that averaged those into one reassuring paragraph would be worse than useless.

Why the sprinkler roster gets a whole table

The other thing we do differently is publish the sprinkler roster in full, all ten digits, instead of summarising it as "Perth has water restrictions". The roster is the single biggest practical difference between owning a lawn in Perth and owning one anywhere else in the country, and it changes the maths on every turf decision made here. It also gets misreported constantly. The version we see most often, that Perth homes cannot water their lawns for three months of winter, is false: the Sprinkler Switch-off bans sprinklers, and Water Corporation's own advice says a watering can or hand-held hose may be used on any day of the week. We would rather publish the awkward, accurate version, so the roster guide carries the digit table, the exemption periods and both fine amounts, each attributed.

What we will not publish

This matters more than what we will. We have not attached an installer to this site yet, so there are no reviews, no testimonials, no star ratings, no named past customers and no project photographs presented as ours. Inventing any of that would be trivial and it would be a lie, so the sections are simply absent. When there is something real to publish, it will appear.

We also will not publish a rebate that does not exist. There is no artificial turf rebate in Western Australia or anywhere in Australia. Water Corporation's Perth and Peel offers are a toilet rebate and an irrigation rebate, and the irrigation one requires an existing working irrigation system, so removing your retic makes you less eligible rather than more. Where our sources genuinely disagree, such as how long a synthetic lawn lasts, we give you the range and say who said what instead of picking the flattering end. Where a supplier makes a performance claim we cannot verify, we attribute it to the supplier and leave it there.

Where the numbers come from

Pricing on this site is compiled from published Australian supplier and industry rate cards, not from a single installer's marketing page. Climate figures are from the Bureau of Meteorology's own station tables, and we say which station, because Perth Airport and Perth Metro differ and the Airport is the better proxy for the eastern and foothills suburbs. Soil descriptions are quoted from the WA Government's soil landscape mapping. You should be able to hold any quote against our published Perth price ranges and form a view in a minute, including a quote from someone we have never referred.

How the quote side works

We are an information and quoting service, not an installer. We own no trucks, hold no stock and employ no crews. The form asks four things: your name, a phone number, your suburb and roughly what the job is. That goes to one vetted local installer covering your part of Perth, who calls to arrange a measure and gives you a firm written price. It is not a panel and it is not an auction, so you will not get five callbacks. Nothing is charged and nothing is committed. If the number is higher than you hoped, walking away is a completely normal outcome and nobody will chase you for it.

Our link to McKays Grass Seeds

Some articles reference McKays Grass Seeds, an Australian lawn care business we share ownership interests with. Those mentions are editorial rather than paid, and we disclose the relationship wherever it appears. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to the details you send us.

Who runs it

Perth Turf Quotes is operated by Kerbside Websites (ABN 78 654 691 111). The quote form reaches us if you have a question about the site or about an enquiry you have already sent. The Terms of Use cover the legal side. If you spot something on this site that is out of date, particularly a council position, tell us: council policy moves, and a stale verge rule is the failure mode we care most about avoiding.

Questions about how this site operates

Are you an installer?

No. We publish information and pricing, and we pass each enquiry to one vetted local installer who does the physical work. We own no trucks, hold no stock and employ no crews. It is worth knowing which kind of page you are reading, because a great deal of turf advice online is a sales page in a guide's clothing.

Why are there no reviews or photos of past jobs on this site?

Because there are none to show yet. No installer is attached to this site at the time of writing, so publishing testimonials, ratings or project photographs would mean fabricating them. We would rather have visibly empty sections than invented ones.

Do you charge for a quote, or take a cut of the job?

You are not charged anything, and requesting a quote carries no obligation to proceed. We are a lead-generation and information service, which is the commercial model behind the site and we would rather state it than have you guess at it.

How current is the council and water information?

Every source is dated where it is quoted. Water Corporation's pages carry no published date, so we date them by the day we retrieved them; the DWER page we rely on states its own last-updated date. Council documents are cited by version and adoption date. The most likely thing to change is the City of Swan's verge position, which is subject to a February 2026 electors' meeting motion the Council had not acted on as at August 2026, and we flag that on the page rather than burying it.

What do you do with my details?

They go to the vetted installer covering your area so they can call you about your enquiry, and nowhere else. The Privacy Policy sets out the detail. There is no phone number on this site because the quote form is the only channel we operate.
